We have the original and for our work where we basically want a camera and lens literally on the ground, eye level with bugs etc, then it's perfect, we are about the get the 4K version G2 and use it for the same. Sure there are may things hanging off the cage but carefully planned these "things" are not "in the way" nor do they make it look cr@p and it is used expressly in the field. We do however agree, the bit-tons are sort of not very good but then again we are controlling it via the RS232 cable and our own little magic box for the key camera variables. As for professionalism, well our global agent says it's content which counts and for us we very rarely meet the client directly. But sure something which looks "Heath Robinson" may not impress the non knowledgable but people who are in the know really want the results at the end of the day, at least this is our experience.

The BMPCC4K is by far the best budget cine camera that has come out in the past 10 years it's not even close. Mine is modded with the tilta flip screen and "internal" ssd and I promise you it's a camera I will never get rid of.

The best advice I can share with anyone who asks me what camera should I buy has always been "It doesn't matter" buy the camera that will do what you need it to do for the work you are doing. The important part is to learn what the limitations of the camera are and work within those limitations. I have 2 bmpcc 4k's and a 6k pro all of which are always made fun of for bad battery life, however I plan for it and it has never been an issue for me. It is a problem if you let be a problem. Thank you for sharing and please keep creating, your work benefits far more than you know.

Agreed! It's funny, since selling my FX3 last year and now mainly using older cameras with arguably less features, I haven't regretted my decision one bit!

Also I totally agree with the idea of working with a cameras weaknesses. I have learned to go without autofocus almost entirely from working with the gh5. I find it's far the cameras setup to work with the way your mind works than anything

Love the video as always and you are too hard on yourself man. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen everywhere and it's how we grow from them which makes us who we are. It's your outlook and mindset which really tune in for. Gives me inspiration, ideas, and faith in humanity whether I agree with you or not. Put it this way, when you say something that I strongly disagree with it stays with me for days. I think about it constantly and how you came to that conclusion and in the end I find that I've learned a lot from it and grown a bit from your words regardless of whether i agree with them fully. That truly says as something of you as a person and presenter.

The S5 has a larger Achilles heal… HDMI latency. It can’t be used on a pro set with focus pullers because of this issue. If it didn’t have that stumbling block it would crush the FX3, which is basically on every set these days

I love this perspective. If I'm every able to regularly get back into talking about cameras again, I'd love to take a similar approach. I'm a gear addict myself, and still find myself camera shopping almost daily. But I had an epiphany last year when I was looking at pulling the trigger on a Komodo, where I realized that if the cameras I already own are enough to publish movies, documentaries, and shoot TV on, then it is no longer my camera that is holding me back. There are TV stations out there at this very minute that are still shooting field footage on cameras like the C100. You can put up the BMPCC4K footage next to an Alexa and they can compete. So now, when I find myself camera shopping, I'm much more drawn to cameras that are a little older or more unique, which is a lot of the reason I've grown to like the work you've been doing. For me, I ended up getting the 3 GH6s over the Komodo. A camera that reviewers all around panned. Now I have 3 cameras for what I was going to pay for one. And despite what a lot of the reviews said, it's been an excellent camera and I'm confident it can compete on image with many other cameras that cost much more.

For me, choosing a camera is like choosing a wife or any partner. We must be able to see each other's strengths and weaknesses to complement and perfect each other. If our (wife's) camera is weak in autofocus, it's clear... we have to be able to cover that weakness. it's that simple. Thank you Mister Cole for your preaching. greet from indonesian.
